SIAM AGRO-FOOD INDUSTRY PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED

Overview

1962 was the start of Thai Pineapple Canning Industry Corporation Limited (TPC), the first pineapple processing factory in Pranburi, Prachuab Kirikhan. With his foresight to expand the export market, Mr. Pipat Tantipipatpong, the founder of TPC, had accepted Mitsubishi Corporation to be the joint venture partner in 1972 for the initial venture in the pineapple plantation. Through the vast network of Mitsubishi Corporation, TPC expanded to every corner of the world from USA to Europe.

As production increased over the years, TPC has contributed to the growth of the town, improving the income and livelihood of growers and residents. Throughout the history of TPC, it has survived 4 severe floods in 1968, 1969, 1996 and 2003. After each disaster, TPC returned with a stronger determination to build the business and export. Over the years, it has attracted other investors to the pineapple industry, including The Siam Agro Industry Pineapple and Others Public Company Limited (SAICO), which started the production facility in 1978 in the Province of Rayong. Today, there are more than 23 factories around the country that process canned pineapple for export, and Thailand is ranked the largest exporter of canned pineapple and pineapple juice concentrate in the world.

In December 2005, TPC acquired 90 per cent of SAICO’s equity. In order to rationalize production and management of both companies, at the beginning of 2010, the business was restructured so that TPC became an investment company in SAICO and the operation of TPC was transferred under SAICO. The new organization is now known as the Siam Agro-Food Industry Public Company Limited, in order to cover other food products that SAICO may venture into in the future.

Besides pineapple processing, WORLDFOODS was established by a strong and dedicated research and development team at SAICO in corporation with AAG (Asian Asset Group). SAICO selects premium natural ingredients to ensure the highest quality standards. The fresh ingredients and traditional herbs and spices that are used in our sauces, reflect the true authenticity of the final product.

Today, the combined production volume of two factories has placed the SAICO at the forefront of pineapple production and export to the world with the mission:

Determination to Sustainable Development as the Leader of the Pineapple Industry

As food safety becomes the most critical issue in our lives, the Management of SAICO implemented the quality management system of ISO 9000 and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and our factories have been certified under various certifications as proof of compliance. SAICO will constantly operate to ensure a safe and quality product under the Quality Policy of:

With the commitment to quality and food safety, concern for environment, compliance to international standards, for customer’s satisfaction
and continual development.

Furthermore, SAICO will also conduct it’s operations to comply with our defined Policies on business ethics, environmental conservation, social responsibility and the hygiene and safety of personnel. At the same time, SAICO will promote sustainability in agriculture via the use of both natural and human resources.
