The year 2013 has ended and we are ready to take on  the challenges in the year 2014.

Many have doubts if rain and flood have caused damage to pineapple plantations and cut supply of fruits.  In a closer look, during the span of 8 weeks in October to November 2013, Prachuab Kirikhan from Hua Hin in the north to Bang Saphan Noi in the south of the province has been repeatedly hit by storms, each bringing in more than 100 mm of rainfall each day and causing runoff water that cut roads and flooded fields.

The tropical depression storm on last Friday has affected many areas in the western region of Thailand stretching along the border with Myanmar from Kanchanaburi to Samroiyod, in Prachuab Kirikhan.

The Philippines National Red Cross said that the death toll from supertyphoon Haiyan could run into the thousands (AWJ 10/11/2013).  The supertyphoon Haiyan passed through central Philippines on Friday, November 8 and is moving in its path toward Vietnam and South China, expecting to make the landfall on Monday, 11 November.  The massive eye of the storm from satellite photo shows the area of devastation that Haiyan would likely bring.

The production for the year 2013 is  expected to be lower than that of year 2012 due to the decrease in supply of  fruits as well as the lower demand in exporting markets.
